Preserved endothelial cells, accumulation of foamy macrophages, and mural fibrin deposition in spiral artery. (b) Non remodeled muscular artery. Intact vascular muscle cells layers and endothelial cells are observed. (c) Remodeled artery. Spiral artery was distended caliber and exhibited a complete loss of vascular muscle and replaced with a layer of fibrinoid. (d) Distal villous hypoplasia. Small or thin and elongated terminal villi and increased intervillous space. (e) Increased syncytial knots. Syncytial knots are recognized as cluster of syncytiotrophoblastic nuclei.
